Urban Terror on Unreal 4 engine
So recently FS team announced they're moving on to UE4. As good as news as it might seem it somehow feels like a slap in the face.
Long time ago and for a very long time several people, including me, attempted to show to the community and the development team that it's time to move on to a new engine.
And for that "blasphemy" we were damn near cast out of the community.
How did we dare speak against the mighty idtech3 engine.
3 years too late they finally decide it really is time to move on. I guess someone watched some video game trailers on YouTube and realized that what they call "next generation" is actually 5 generations behind the worst.
So moving on to a new engine- good.
Bad- you actually have to pay to use the new engine and the development kit.
20$ a month subscription, one i expect Epic wont abandon any time soon.
So why not use UE3? Fuck me if i know.
Either way, I've been messing with UE3 for a while now, long before FS team even had any plans of moving on to UE4 and i quite like it.
Yes compiling is still here, and kismet takes time to understand and work out all the little bugs and hiccups in the script. But, it's fun.
And it definitely looks better than this piece of shit idtech3.
